Travel Tips for Dealing With Unique Weather Conditions: the 3 items to always have in your carry-on bag.
My Sunny Week On The Emerald Isle
In 2019, my travel buddy and I arrived in Galway on a sunny day, eager to explore. When we asked our taxi driver what locals did for fun, he enthusiastically replied, "Most people will be sitting around in the quad enjoying the sun." As Southern Californians, we never took sunny days for granted, but in Ireland, they felt like a special celebration.
Our week in Galway was filled with vibrant energy, from the lively Latin Quarter to the soulful street musicians. A highlight was touring the Cliffs of Moher, where the dramatic cliffs and crashing waves left us in awe. We also explored the diverse Irish countryside, transitioning from lush green hills to rocky, moon-like landscapes.
Connemara's rugged beauty and the Twelve Bens mountain range offered serene hikes and stunning vistas. Throughout our stay, we embraced the sunny days, lounging in parks and enjoying picnics by the water.
As our week ended, I reflected on Ireland's breathtaking beauty and the warmth of its people. The Emerald Isle had left an indelible mark on my heart, and I cherished every moment spent under its rare and precious sun.
I always recommend visiting Ireland to people who have never been. The people are kind. The food is plenty and delicious.
It’s one of my favorite places.

The question of the week: Are you guys interested in a workbook that helps you create your own travel bucket list?
Travel Tip For “Unique” Weather
When you travel you should always be prepared for unique weather events in the destinations you are heading. Before going to Ireland I bought waterproof boots, invested in a good rain jacket of and of course an umbrella. Only to spend a week in the sun and found it so windy when it did rain at the Cliffs of Moher an umbrella was useless.
Here are 3 items to always have in your carry-on bag to prepare for “unique” weather as I call it.
3. Poncho
A good waterproof Pancho can protect you in the event it does rain at your destination regardless of how windy it might be. A poncho in the windy rains of Ireland and Scotland was worth its weight in gold and took up very little carry on space.
2. Foldable/Rollable Sunhat/ Cap
If you aren’t sure how sunny it might be at your end destination a rollable or foldable hat can be a life saver. They take up very little space just like a poncho but provide great face coverage in the event of unexpected sun.
1. Light weight scarf
A light weight scarf can come in handy in the event of chilly nights or sun exposed days. It can be used for a quick cover up or shade.
